I have a couple of strategies. One is to go for a walk and get some oxygen into my lungs. I let my mind freewheel and it unlocks whatever kitty problem I'm struggling with. Or I write a non-sequential chapter that I know I need and which will be more fun than the one I'm stuck on. I have my friend author John Marrs to thank for that one.

The time I was walking through St Albans town centre one Saturday morning with my parents. The narrow streets were crowded with shoppers and tourists.
