Mal Warwick When I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador, I worked with a team of other Volunteers and "Host Country Nationals" to educate the poor farmers of a large hacienda about a new agrarian reform law that would allow them to claim their own land. Communists were organizing in nearby villages in the hills above the hacienda. One night they massed in a large group and threatened to stream down the hillside and murder us. But they never came. And the reason they didn't had nothing to do with our ability to defend ourselves. The real reason was dramatic and surprising enough to suggest a terrific thriller plot.
Mal Warwick I'm not intimately familiar with the history of evangelism in the US. But I do know that the missionaries dispatched to China in the 19th and early 20th century were part of a larger effort to spread the Gospel throughout what later came to be called the Third World. What happened in China may well have been the highest profile and best funded of those efforts; I'm not sure. But there's little doubt that the same impulse that led Christians in the US to imagine they were commanded by God to minister to the "ignorant" and "inferior" races of the Global South now informs the Right-Wing Christian support for Donald Trump.
Mal Warwick I tried reading one of his books and hated it.
Mal Warwick I read 3-5 books per week, so I'm not about to list them all, or even a major share of them. If you really want to know, go to my blog, Mal Warwick on Books, https://malwarwickonbooks.com.
Mal Warwick I don't get ideas for books. I simply write about what I've done or what I'm currently engaged in.
Mal Warwick I don't. I just HAVE to write.
Mal Warwick Marketing and followup to my latest book, "The Business Solution to Poverty," which I coauthored with Paul Polak.
Mal Warwick If you have something you truly MUST write about, write about it. If you're simply trying to write because you want to be a "writer," forget it.
Mal Warwick Being able to think things through in an organized way.
Mal Warwick I haven't had writer's block in 25 years. When I experienced it, I realized much later that I really hadn't had anything meaningful to write.
