Jean B. MacLeod Originally it was when I was looking for something to use as a cutter while making Eccles cakes, You would think I'd remember what piece of equipment I had used the last time I made them, or at least make a notation on the recipe. We already know the answer to that one.

The equipment book also seemed like a natural progression from the Waste-Wise Kitchen Companion. Both books deal with using what we have on hand.
Jean B. MacLeod I'm finishing up a book on food substitutions. It's been an ongoing love affair for quite a while. It's a big book, backed up with big bibliography. Jean B. MacLeod Keep your antenna up and your nose to the ground. You never know when you are going to get an idea, a fresh perspective, a turn of phrase, an insight, or just exactly what you are looking for. And keep a notebook handy at all times, especially upon awaking.
Jean B. MacLeod In my case it's about getting to share hints and tips to make life easier. I get excited when I discover something new and useful. I want to pass it on. Writing gives me that opportunity.
