It was a happy accident I think. I never made the connection until you mentioned it. The narrator is right now doing the 3rd Dinosaur Lake audio book for me and should be done in a few months. Sorry it took so long to reply but I never saw your question 8 months ago. But that was about the time my sweet brother was dying (and died) of cancer and my mind wasn't much with my books. my favorite of my 22 published books would have to be A Time of demons and Angels as it is close to my heart. But it deals with the end days and a religious theme (like the Left Behind books...except my book isn't as preachy, more a layman's view of the end days and the Rapture) so some people don't care for it. My other favorite, horror, is my 1993 book Witches. But my best selling two books would have to be my Dinosaur Lake (thriller) and Spookie Town Murder Mystery series. I write horror, murder mystery and time-travel but, truthfully, I consider myself just storyteller and most of my books blend multiple genres. *My books can be found here:

Thanks for the question. Happy New Year! And for the first time in over 32 years (I've been writing for over 44 years now and have been with traditional publishers since 1984) ALL my 22 books completely belong to just me (no more publishers) and I have recently self-published each one with new covers, paperbacks and audio books! I'm so happy about that.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith I never have it. Usually if I don't write at a certain time or during a certain time of my life it's only because I chose to take a break from it or because "life" had gotten in the way. For me, I have to be happy, content, to write and that means no traumas in my current life. In the late 1990's to early 2000's, for instance, I didn't write for almost 6 years because my full-time day job was so demanding and life-sucking. But, most times in my career, I've had no trouble writing.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith The feeling of accomplishment when you finish a short story or a book and someone, after they've read it, says "I couldn't put it down or it took me away from the world for a while". And for me especially, as I look back over all the 42 years of trials and tribulations, lessons learned, rejections and victories, I feel "proud" I never gave up. I have a lot to show for those years.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith Keep writing. Never give up. And don't expect to become rich or famous overnight, as you might never attain either one. Most importantly, besides learning the actual craft of writing so your books are letter perfect, write because you love to write. If you don't love it you'll never finish your first book. I believe that all "artists" are called to do what they do. Illustrators, singers, musician and writers are born to be those things. Then they just have to put in the work and time, the years, to make it happen.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith I'm working on finishing all 20 of my books' Audible Audio Books (I have 4 left in production and the other 16 are already for sale on Audible, iTunes and Amazon) and the third dinosaur book, DINOSAUR LAKE: Infestation, which I hope to self-publish by the end of 2014.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith I never have to be inspired. The stories just seem to come the second I sit down to write. Over 42 years of writing it's become fairly second-nature. I don't know where the stories really come from, but any simple thing like something someone says, a newspaper story, a comment on the television or evening news, or just a dream sparks a central idea and I'm off.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith My two DINOSAUR LAKE (my books #19 and 20) thriller novels have a strange backstory. I originally wrote the first one over 20 years ago and Zebra paperbacks, who called it Predator...bad title, had bought it and covers were done, advance paid, final edits in the works when my new editor and Kensington Publishing dropped the book 6 weeks before it was to go to the shelves.. So, devastated, I stuck it in a drawer for 20 years. The editor said no one wanted to read about "dinosaurs"! And a few months later Jurassic Park the book came out!
Anyhow...after going on to publish 18 other novels over the years I decided to rewrite and self-publish (for the first time ever) that old dinosaur book. I had my cover artist do a new cover for it and retitled it DINOSAUR LAKE and it has been , so far, my best-selling book EVER! It and now its sequel DINOSAUR LAKE II: Dinosaurs Arising.
