Graham Williamson Robbie was raised by a single mother who never had time for him and no teacher ever encouraged him with his school work. He now does occassional labouring work but is mostly on the dole because he has two kids to support, by different mothers.
Graham Williamson I've never experienced it, but then I don't set a specific goal for writing or set aside a time of day when I must write.
Sometimes the words don't flow as easily as they should, in which case I go do something else for a while.
Graham Williamson Go into it with your eyes open. If you just like to write - do it. If you want to publish yourself it's never been easier with Kindle and Amazon. If you want to sell you'll need to put a lot of effort into it (blog, have a website, participate in writer's forums, do readings at libraries etc.). If you want a publisher to pick you up - make sure your book is exceptional and that it aligns with the focus of the publisher.
Graham Williamson It's threapeutic. It excercises your mind. You get enormous satisfaction when a story is finished.
Graham Williamson I'm currently writing a book about people with a disability. I met a kid at Special School who asked about what car I drove. I told him it was a Mazda BT50. He then asked which of the three models it was. He asked me the colour and when I told him it was white he wanted to know if it was Arctic White or the other option. He knew more about the drive train and the various options that were available for it than I did. I think we have vast untapped potential in Special Schools.
Graham Williamson Anything's Possible grew out of disapointment with much of what's considered entertainment these days. It does not rely on complex ‘who-done-it’ intrigue, it has no incredible fantasy or dystopian devastation, it has precious-little sex and no violence. It provides a completely believable narrative that demonstrates all we need to do is to encourage our children and to have the courage walk through the doors that open up to us.
