Telling my inner critic to shut up is the best way to make a story move again. Armed with pen and paper, I scratch words across a page without stopping. Punctuation is not allowed. Even if the only sentences I muster are full of drivel, the pen continues. A certain amount of nonsense needs to arrive before the story comes back alive.
