Stephen H. King I think about it. Sometimes I walk and think about it. Writer's block is just my brain telling me that what I'm about to do in the story isn't going to work, so I use that as a reason to look a little closer and tweak the story. If I can't come up with a way to do that, then I switch to a different part of the book and write there for a while.
Stephen H. King Social acceptance of your habit of drinking alone.

What did you expect me to say, the high salary?
Stephen H. King There's no such thing as an aspiring writer; you either write, or you don't. So write. And read books about writing, and also read books in your preferred genre, thinking about how they do what they do. The only way to improve at the craft of writing is to do it.
Stephen H. King Relocating successfully to my new day job, to be honest. But when I have time, I'm making revisions to the draft of Book 2 of Elf Queen of Kiirajanna. It's gonna be a great one.
Stephen H. King I think. No, that's not meant as a flippant response. One of my blog posts a while back covered the cyclical nature of my writing process. In a nutshell, here it is: I write something, and then as I go about my day job or other activities, I let my brain go over what I've written. Then, later, I can't wait to sit at the keyboard to write whatever it was my subconscious came up with.
Stephen H. King Prophecy (Elf Queen of Kiirajanna) was actually inspired on a trip to Disney World a few years ago. I'd been there once as a performer and knew about the miles of tunnels that stretched underneath the Magical Kingdom--tunnels that basically made the magic happen. My wife and I started talking about magic, and about elves (our favorite supernatural race), and I suggested an elf world with a few entry points to our own. Then, both of us having been displaced Southern teens ourselves, we suggested that as the main character.
