Good question! I teach courses in bioterrorism law and I found that biohorror movies provided excellent scenarios, full of conflict and opportunities to talk about legal issues. Here are a few examples: Can you use deadly force if someone breaks quarantine? When can the military engage with civilians? Who makes the decisions about life and death of an entire city of people? I began to see that biohorror and biothriller movies made up a unique subgenre of movies and no one else had ever written about this. I thought the topic deserved exploring --- My research turned up 48 movies that fit my criteria for a biohorror/biothriller movie, starting with a 1922 silent movie!
