As a child, I would write little stories about horses. I guess the writing gene comes from my paternal grandfather who, despite very little formal education, wrote his memoirs of journeying from Poland to the U.S. He never published his memoirs but I hope to do so. I have a niece who is a writer and one of my brothers is a writer, also.

In a dream. I had been planning to do a radio show to honor the 50th anniversary of the recording of James Cleveland and the Angelic Choir's "Peace Be Still" album. In the midst of the planning, I had a dream that I was at the recording session in 1963. I shared that with a friend, Rev. Dr. Stefanie Minatee, who was part of the Reverend Lawrence Roberts and Angelic Choir family. She encouraged me to write a book on it and gathered together some of the remaining choristers from that session for me to interview.
