Ellis Amdur She took a sip of her Armagnac. Leaning forward, she licked a drop off of her lip and whispered, "I am really supportive of carbon neutral initiatives."
Ellis Amdur Not to be too pedantic, but the word 'in-spire,' means to be filled with breath. Inspiration happens to one. Usually, I'm provoked by something or an idle thought floats into awareness, and it seems to coalesce. It's written in rough form before I start. With fiction, quite honestly, I often sit down and wait to be surprised. I find it interesting that I cannot do this when hand-writing. I also cannot do 'write' when speaking. I can only function when I have a keyboard.
Ellis Amdur Honestly, it hasn't happened to me. I do not have a compulsive drive to write, so when I don't have anything to say, I do other things. In my non-fiction work, I simply let things sit for a few days, and usually, while my mind is idling--in the shower or working out--the theme coalesces as I want.
Ellis Amdur I am currently working on the following books:
1. Cooling the Flames: Communication, Control, and De-escalation of Mentally Ill and Aggressive Patients (for firefighters and EMS) (with fmr fire chief Jonathan Murphy)
2. Shapeshifting: Scenario Training for Hostage Negotiation Teams (with Fmr. Sgt. Lis Eddy)
