Paul Marriner Firstly, no surprise - Write! Many people have great ideas for plots and characters but they won't come alive until on the page or screen.

Secondly - to steal a quote from Barbara Kingsolver: 'Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.'
Paul Marriner Fortunately I've never really had a problem putting words on to the page. There are times when I'm writing a scene which is designed to move the story on but which doesn't excite me, and when that happens I force myself to take a step back and re-evaluate what I'm trying to achieve with that scene; how can I change the content to achieve the same purpose but make it exciting to write which hopefully means it will be better quality prose or dialogue.
