As you go through your day you see and hear some fascinating stuff. You log that away in your head as something for your mind to chew over. If it keeps coming back to you that's a story. A friend reminded me of a story I said I was going to write 20 years ago. So I wrote it and dedicated it to him. If anyone is interested I can tell them where to find that story.

Well for most of us, it is not the money. Being able to move words around is a lot of fun. I like research too, but I have to say playing with words is the best part.

I just write so I don't get writer's block. I know writers all use different methodologies but if you are having writer's block, maybe just try it the way I and other writers do, just write with no editing, plot outlines or anything else which distracts you.
One thing I find useful is starting the session with writing. No Googling or emails until you have a couple of hundred words down.
I am unsure whether readers are interested in writers' problems such as writer's block but I guess we will find out.

I was just talking about Kurt Vonnegut and he says anyone can become an accomplished author if they keep at it. I think he is exaggerating to reinforce the message that perseverance is the key.

I am working on a compilation of quotes from the New Zealand singer Lorde and the writer Kurt Vonnegut. It's almost done and I will probably put it on special for Christmas so have a look out for it.

I guess my most recent book is an update of 7 Shouts, based on the 1st seven years of my newspaper column. I just finished the uploads actually. I decided I will update every year. That flexibility is one of the great things about eBooks. In 7 Shouts, I also have a lot of cool photos and links which you cannot effectively do in a print book.
