David Taylor I have a strange hobby - Renaissance cryptography. I decided to write 'The Queen's Cipher' after managing to crack a four hundred year old code used by a Tudor spy to relate what Queen Elizabeth was doing behind closed doors in her palace. This led me to other genuine contemporary cipher systems which cast a new light on the Shakespeare authorship. Material for a good novel, I hoped.
David Taylor I have begun writing a historical novel about an English soldier of fortune who fought for the Confederacy in the American Civil War and ended up being imprisoned in Fort Jefferson on the Dry Tortugas. This is a true story that warrants a fictional treatment.

David Taylor What I like best is storytelling. It is the basis of all the creative arts.
David Taylor I am a new novelist and have never had to deal with writer's block. My main problem comes from having too many ideas and not knowing how best to set them down.
