Communications is also one of the college courses I went into. Believe me it will help you in the future and it'll open doors for you. So hold onto that. To publish my first book it took me over twenty years. I started writing on it when I was fifteen. It was a book of poetry. And my second only took five. Writing and publishing takes time. And life can get in the way. But it was the right time for me to publish because I had time to learn and experience more with this writing and publishing industry along the way. You will know when it's the right time for you to publish your work for the world to see. Don't let anyone else rush you or try to tell you different. Success takes time. It is a marathon not a sprint. But be determined, dedicated but bring your dreams to fruition on your own terms and timeline. That's what I did. Always be a student and learn something, everything along the way so your dream can be more affirmed into reality. I'm glad I could help. Good luck on your journey, Mikayla!

Personally, I don't trust them. There's no guarantee. And some you have to pay for airtime. One of the authors that I published tried a local radio station on their own. They sent in a copy of their book and never heard back or heard their book ever advertised. I think it's better to do whatever you think is best for you. Self-publishing isn't for everyone. It's a lot of hard work. I published my own books after turning down a traditional publishing contract that I was offered when I was a teenager. I wanted to do more with my writing and under contract I wouldn't have been able to do the things I wanted to do. I do everything a publishing company does. Marketing and promotion, included. I mean everything in every department of a publishing company, but I also have a college background in it. And I got my books on Amazon. If the task of doing self-publishing isn't what you want to do solely on your own like me. There are online companies such as draft2digital.com that will format your manuscript for free and will get it on Amazon if you want. I have indie authors that swear by this site. There's also the website called Blurb that will publish you for a fee. And there's also KDP Amazon which I use that publishes both paperback and e-book versions of your book for free. They have free templates you can use. Hope this helps.

Salinger, Ezra Pound, Rudyard Kipling, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Willa Cather, Anne Sexton to name some but there are more in my favorite author list here on Goodreads and more I haven't listed. I'd have to create that fictional book world, because that perfect fictional book world doesn't exist for me. At least not in the books I've read.
Angel M.B. Chadwick
Sure, I will do that. I tend to review majority of the books I read. So when I get around to reading it. I will review and that will let you know what I think and feel about it. Thanks for your question, Cecelia! Happy reading!

Hi, Chuck! I kind of got lost in my writing world too. Sorry for the delay. I was working on the rerelease of my second book "Weeping Well (Vol. 1)" and I'm now I'm able to work on my third "Traveling Salesman" which I'm thinking about making a part of a trilogy. I don't have a blog website, but I do blog quite a bit on my Goodreads blog. I'll stop over and check out your blog. Best wishes on your writing! And yes its a lot of work with marketing and promotion. But consistent networking is the key. That's what I do and it's always worked for me.

Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. She was his equal and I like the way they matched wits and how they'd get under each others' skin. A classic, but hot romance that didn't have to have any sex involved just the right amount of sexual tension that emitted more than enough steaminess.

I conceive of both the characters and the plot. My books are both plot driven and character driven simultaneously. It's part of the complexity of my writing.

On my Facebook there is a link to Wattpad on the first few chapters of "Weeping Well." I have changed a few things, (not the over all plot) since I posted that sample.

I recommended your book to several of my Goodreads friends. Some of them like poetry or write poetry. Hope that will help you get some reviews. Sorry I don't have KU. I write novels not just poetry. I'm currently working on four novels at this time. Currently my latest one is complete and almost done in the editing process and will be released on Amazon in Spring 2016. Good luck to you on your future endeavors!

Hello, Melvin. Good question. I market on Twitter, Facebook and Wattpad. But, those have become iffy as far as sells. I also market locally by selling by books within the community.
But, haven't had guarantee of reviews though from the local sells. I've had more reviews than sells, mostly by giving several pdf copies of my book for reviews, which has worked out mostly for the review part but, not quite so much in the selling part. But, mainly I build a consistent rapport with other, authors, bloggers and readers, even beta readers at least one beta reader in particular (who's been wonderful in helping me with my upcoming novel). I have done many interviews with bloggers which gets publicity for my book.
I have created a sizable following on Twitter, Facebook and Wattpad. Building those connections, those networking skills have paid off in a way that I will at least be able to continue publicity and reviews with my other books coming up. Also I am very active on Goodreads, in discussion forums and also build publicity for my current and upcoming books, which has me booked up with interviews already for the future as well as offers for reviews of my upcoming books.
I've also been a writer for 25 years now so it helps to know what to do and what not to do in this business to get ahead and also to have a very thick skin and a lot patience and diligence. being industrious helps me a lot.
I also promote other indie authors, particularly young authors as well as seasoned ones free of charge of course and I review other authors books on a regular basis. To answer your question about proofreading, I actually do both. I try to be very meticulous, since I'm very OCD about it to the point of being a perfectionist. But, no one's perfect right. Hope this helps you in your writing journey!
