Hello Christine, What made you become a writer?

Christine Mari Hi Arlene. I consider myself more a comic artist than a writer. I have been drawing comics from a young age, and my dad encouraged me to do a comic travelogue when I traveled to Japan. This is how "Halfway Home" got its start.

I am so happy I won your book! As an "Amer-Asian" myself (half Filippino/half American and born in the Philippines) i was able to identify with your visit home. Especially the "pervy" men. in the PI, when you sit on a motorcycle, ladies sit sideways. Not me! Being raised in America, I sat right behind the driver! boy was I fussed at! Looking forward to more books you write in the future. (^.^) ?

Do you plan to make more comics in the near future, and when you do, do you plan on collaborating with other artists?

Christine Mari Hi Ope. I definitely plan on making more comics, but I also just started college so I have to balance comics with my studies. I am actually working on an expanded, full-color version of Halfway Home that will be published by Tuttle next year. I also am working on a short comic that will be included in an anthology. Depending on the project, I'm sure I would enjoy collaborating with other artists. Thanks for the question!
