The idea for my most recent book just came to me, literally out of the blue, at 35,000 feet on an aircraft flying back home from Venezuela. I scribbled it down on a small piece of paper and then went back to that repeatedly until the time was right to flesh it out.

For me, the best thing about being a writer is to nail down thoughts and ideas that otherwise would fade away like the morning frost on a sunny day. Add to that the conviction that I might write something that would benefit many people, or would at least cause them to ponder something higher than themselves.

Writer's block was not an issue. My practice was not to just bang out a set number of pages a day, rather I waited for some inspiration. At that point there was a flow. During such times, my challenge was to keep at it and not allow the matters of daily life to break that flow.
