When I was graduating from my university's creative writing program, one of my professors gifted me with a magazine article titled, "The talent of the room." The gist....if you're going to write, you're going to need to sit down and write. Writers write. That's what we do. Everything I publish goes through multiple versions. Rarely is the first draft remotely good. My advice to aspiring writers is to write. And write some more. Then write some more.

I think writer's block is mostly just having too much to say or write about. I try to narrow things down as much as I can. If I'm writing a presentation, I divide the topic into three or four points. With books, I try to focus on one chapter at a time. Doing that keeps me zoned in.
