John Mill I see that a lot of writer say writing grows out of reading, that is certainly true in my case. Because I have a technical background my approach was a little more mechanical. For the first 18 months I gathered and organized ideas in a TOC. After that I started to write it up.

One tip i read was to write your book through blogging. One page a week equals 50 pages a year, 2 pages a week equals 100 and so on. IN my case I only got 30 or so pages this way but they were good quality and helped form the continuity of the chapters.
John Mill I wanted to write about business succession because there is not a lot of good writing on the subject. In terms of specific focus 'Hire Your Buyer' addresses a neglected topic. In the small business advisory community there seems to be a prejudice against employees buying into a business so I wanted to dispel that.
John Mill The primary book writing took five months more or less full time. I stumbled into a significant writer's block when I was writing. What I did was to start reading quite quickly. I just read about 12 books in a row over about 7-8 days. This exercise took my thinking to a different place and I was able to re-start.
