Joyce B. Lohse Easy. In about 1900, I would visit with my ancestral cousin, Eliza P. Routt, the original First Lady of Colorado, and the first woman registered to vote in the state. We would meet for high tea in the lobby of the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver for a long, unhurried conversation. While I was in the area, I would locate a horse and ride (astride) to Colorado Springs, to visit some folks there, then ride up to Leadville.
