I've found it's a good approach to just put the work aside and spend some time, even days or weeks, on other things. Sometimes it's a random thought maybe from something I've read in the newspaper or heard on television that produces a eureka moment.

In my case, I'm retired and it gives something to do. More than that the idea of stringing words and sentences together that can clearly describe a thought or an event is satisfying to me. In a humorous vein I tell people it keeps me out of trouble and off the streets.
