Mike Stoner Hi Jonny, many thanks for your question and comments. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it so much and it's good to hear - the best part of writing is to know that someone has really enjoyed your work. I'd love it to be a film, and I believe there is a film student trying to make an indie movie at the moment, but I'm not sure how far he's got with it. Sadly I don't have the time or money to invest into making a film myself, but I'm ever hopeful!
Thanks again for contacting me - it's much appreciated and hearing positive comments makes it worth while. Best wishes, Mike
Mike Stoner I had to write from my life experiences for the dissertation for my MA course, so I lifted some true-life and unusual experiences from living in Asia, and plonked them into a fictional story about love, loss, ghosts and self-discovery. It was interesting and fun turning some of my life into fiction - and then having friends guess which bits were true.
Mike Stoner It's not inspiration, that's not the biggest problem; the biggest problem is getting time. As I haven't exactly made a living (so far) at writing I have to work full-time and amuse my family. Inspiration is there, I just need to get it from my head to the keyboard.
Mike Stoner I've started three new book ideas, but thinking of going with one about a couple coping with a massive and sudden change to daily life and their relationship- sounds boring but hopefully it won't be - I just don't want to give it away. Or I'm going to revisit an old project which is set in the near future and the far future.
Mike Stoner Don't get down. It took me years to finally finish a book, but when you print the first draft off for the first time and have that pile of paper, it's the best bit. Write what you know or what you love.
Mike Stoner Wondering where it comes from and not knowing where it's going. It's a bit like reading a book, the story takes its own route.
Mike Stoner Badly. Or I keep writing a page, then deleting, then writing, then deleting, until it carries on for more than a page, and then it hopefully starts falling into place. I also make sure I write something down when I have an 'inspiration' moment.
