You certainly aren't the first person to suggest some kind of character chart, and it's something my co-author and I think is actually a great idea. We'll try to come up with something in time for book four's release! Thanks for the suggestion. Also, I'm glad you're enjoying Battle Dawn! :)

I'm happy to hear you're enjoying Nightfall. SaJa and I needed a way to portray the two very distinct subplots happening in the novel (the events surrounding the Northern Empire as one, and the political unrest inside Arden as another). Giving Joel a viewpoint was the most logical solution. (Plus, it gave us a chance to get inside the head of my personal favorite character). Both Joel and Gib will retain viewpoints in Book Three, and we will be adding more viewpoints, too. Four or five returning characters will get major face time in the third installment. It's going to be interesting.

Thanks for the question. In Arden, a person (by law) is considered an adult around the time they hit puberty, and Gib has to grow up even faster due to his circumstances (parents dying, two young brothers to look after, homestead to care for, etc). Gib's maturity is definitely above and beyond that of, say, his friend Tarquin, who's been able to enjoy his childhood and doesn't have to worry about where his next meal will come from. Arden's culture is (loosely) based around medieval Europe, and it wasn't uncommon during those times for teenagers (by our modern standards) to be considered adults by society.

Hi Liam! "Nightfall" is about half way finished. Progress has been a little slow due to the craziness of the holiday season, but SaJa and I hope to have the final manuscript to our editor by mid-February. (So, perhaps an early March release?)

The sequel to "A Call to Arms", named "Nightfall."
