Tim Wynn Okay, Sara, you got me there. I haven’t been bitten by a naked mole rat (or even one wearing clothes), but I have been bitten by a yellow-rat snake, which at least has “rat” in it’s name. And I haven’t been bitten by a sugar glider, but when I was about four years old, I did have a ferret hanging off my chin because he decided to bite me in the face.

Tim Wynn Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry you had trouble contacting me through e-mail. I will message you with a Canadian gift-card code for a Kindle version of "Trespassers."

Tim Wynn Often when we write, we have a specific story in mind from the beginning.

For our latest book, “Trespassers,” my brother and I intentionally took a different approach. We wanted to be completely unencumbered, so we started with the first sentence, which is still the same in the finished version of the novel: “Earth hovered a hundred feet below . . . “

From there, we simply asked ourselves what should follow. What should this spaceship be doing? Abducting someone, of course. What about abducting the WRONG person? That’s even better. Each chapter grew from there, one at a time. When we reached the end, we did decide to go back and rework the middle of the story, but by then we had the characters in place.
Tim Wynn My brother and I are working on a new, slightly-dark-comedy novel set in the workplace, which should strike a cord with anyone who has been subject to a less-than-perfect boss.
Tim Wynn Read “On Writing” by Stephen King. He knows more than I do on the subject.

Read “The Elements of Style” by William Strunk Jr. and E. B. White for the same reason.
Tim Wynn For me, it’s a shoe that fits. And that’s the very best thing.
Tim Wynn One word . . . write.

I don’t believe there is any such thing as writer’s block—it’s akin to a fish having swimmer’s block. If you’re a writer, write.

What is called “writer’s block” is a matter of either giving up before inspiration strikes or allowing yourself to be overcome by doubt.

“Writing is an act of faith, not a trick of grammar.” - E.B. White
