That's a tricky question.
There are two somewhat major characters in the first book, a woman and a young man, where one would really have to be reading between the lines to find any cause for sympathy. It exists (arguably), but not in the told storyline.
Typically in fantasy the "big bad" or "great satan" tends to involve more than no apparent cause for sympathy - their destruction is the "win" condition for all the protagonists and/or the realm. In that sense, there don't exist any in books 1 or 2 (no date set for 2 yet, sorry). I don't avoid characters like that as a rule, however, I wouldn't expect any to develop in this series.

The prologue is no longer for sale. It was determined that it did not add to the story enough to make up for the increased chance of frustrating readers with an even higher character count.
