There is no such thing. Sometimes you gotta pause and work out where the story is going. Maybe sleep on it or go for a walk or whatever or what I do is sit down with the old fashioned pencil and paper and write out scenarios. Some will be good some rubbish but you persevere anyway. You might have to discard what you have written - when I say discard I mean file it somewhere as it might come into the story after all or be useful in another setting.

When the packet comes in the post and I open it and take out my book. The smell hits me first then the feel of that brand new shiny book.

Just keep pegging away at it. You may be not much good to start with but keep on writing and practice makes perfect. or maybe not.
