“Hi, got a question about Navy life? What’s it really like on a submarine (yes, I’ve been on one)? Writing? Disney? Want to talk about dogs? Books? I’m happy to talk, just drop me a note here. ~ hugs”

There are really three couples that hold first place for me.
David St. James and Vivi LeBrun from WORTH THE WAIT by Jamie Beck.
Eve Dallas and Roarke from the In Death series by JD Robb
Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
I fell in love with Vivi and David from the start. They were so different, yet each saw that something special in the other that no one else noticed. I think that's what it is about Eve and Roarke too. They saw past the exterior to the person inside and excepted them for who they were. For Cat and Bones, it was their attitude that first grabbed my attention. Beyond that, it's the fact that they would die for each other and the other person's happiness matters more to them, than their own does.

My last release, Before the Dawn, is book 2 in the Camden Point Mystery series. Cat and Shawn were so much fun to write.
Cat, of course, was in book 1 of the series, Tell Me Lies. She and her life-long best friend, Lexi run a private investigation firm. I'm not sure where my inspiration for Cat came from other than I love feisty heroines, especially when they like to flip the switch and do something other than expected.
Shawn is easier to explain. He's based on a high school friend of mine who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident. He was taken from us far too early and never got his true happily ever after. Now he has one.

Life has been a bit crazy these past two years and I'm just getting back into the swing of "normal" life. First up on my list of things I'm working on is a novella for a private publisher (one that doesn't sell at retailers). It's a fun, light romantic mystery.
Also on the front burner, is book 3 of the Camden Point Mystery series. My goal is to get this done and out in early 2023. So for those of you who have been waiting for more of Vinnie and the ladies at LexaKate, PI Services, stay tuned.

Never quit. Never stop believing in yourself. Remember there is no "one right way" to plot or write a story. Never forget why you wanted to write in the first place. And, most importantly, find a good writing group and surround yourself with like-minded people who aren't afraid to give you a good swift kick if, and when needed.

I love escaping into my own head and getting to control where a story goes. So much of life is out of my hands, that every now and then, I need to have something that only I can direct the end game.
It's been seven years since I wrote that response. It still fits, but I'm going to add another "best thing about being a writer" and that's the readers. I've had time now to meet quite a few people who have given me the honor of reading my stories. They make every minute totally worthwhile. Knowing that I made someone smile or laugh, or escape from their worries...is priceless. To all of you who have read my books, thank you.

A friend and I were talking about this yesterday...for both of us hopping into the shower (just to be clear, not together) gets our brain wondering and by the time we dry off we have a new idea circling around, dying to be written.
