Lela Markham Lela awoke on a deserted planets. She was alone.
Lela Markham Interesting question because that is what authors do - travel to a fictional book world and live the characters' lives.

I think I'd like to travel to the world of Serenity/Firefly and I'd pretty much want to be a part of Mal's crew.
Lela Markham I'm reading Book 1 in Kate Elliott's Black Wolf series and re-reading some books I read decades ago and feel like I need to read again.
Lela Markham My mother gave a child up for adoption before I was born. My brother and I have tried to find her, but our state has tough adoption laws and they were all closed back then.
Lela Markham I rarely get writer's block because I always have multiple projects going, so I don't get bored or panicked if ideas don't flow right away. Sometime just hammering out a stream of consciousness paragraph will break things loose. Or go for a hike, throw the ball for the dog, watch a movie, read someone else's book. Writer's block is mainly the product of freaking yourself out by staring at a blank sheet of paper (computer screen). Make it not blank and the terror goes away.
Lela Markham Read everything you can get your hands on. Write every day. Find a group of other writers to be beta readers and get involved. Go do something else from time to time. If you've never lived, it's hard to have anything interesting to write about.
Lela Markham The sequel to The Willow Branch, Murklin Wood, and several other works-in-progress in other genres, including a dystopian.
Lela Markham I don't require inspiration. I write because that's what I am created to do.
Lela Markham It was a lengthy process starting more than 20 years ago when I was researching the unusual family name we eventually gave our daughter. I learned a lot about Celtic mythology then, which caused me to read more on the subject. Later, I was listening to Enya on rainy afternoon about 15 years ago and the characters of Padraig and Tamys began to form in my mind. I am a character-driven writer so I didn't actually start writing the book until the characters formed.
