I put the faltering project aside and do something else (related) ..like work on illustrations/covers, write a short story, start another novel ...I find that blocks resolve themselves after a break.
If all else fails ... I go make a coffee! :)

I get to work in p.j.'s if I want to (though, to be honest, I feel more 'professional' when I change clothes for daytime wear) ...and I get to take my dog to work every day.

Keep writing, regardless:
I attended a talk given by the editor of Fremantle Press in Western Australia. Her repeated answer to questions about the relative importance of having a 'platform' to gain attention ...i.e. website, reviews, Facebook page, blog, etc. was consistently, "It's ALL ABOUT THE WRITING."
I took the hint and just kept on writing...my advice is that you should do the same.

I have two 'most recent' books (both available for pre-order and out in September and October):
The idea(s) for Leaf On a Breeze (the sequel to Flowers In The Morning) come from a number of sources ...living in London (which, unlike Hamish, I loved!), visiting a lot of National Trust gardens and a fascination with fairies, among them.
'A Good Read' is set in a city that bears a close resemblance to one I used to live ...I wanted to explore the idea of being able to interact with characters from old books.
