Hi Julian, just looking at your new list of books and noticed you want to read THE FIREMAN. Did you know Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King? He is actually a pretty good writer. How do you like living in KL? My wife and I lived there for three years...miss Malaysia terribly. Best, bob-

Julian Lees Hi Bob, I read NOS4A2 by Joe Hill last year and quite enjoyed it (I didn't realize he was Stephen King's son until afterwards). I must confess I enjoy his dad's work more. What are you reading at the moment?

Julian, the Goodreads page shows a Kindle edition, but Amazon doesn't have it; all they have is used and new paperbacks from third sellers mostly in the U.K. Barns and Noble doesn't have it at all. Will there be a U.S. edition?

Julian Lees Hi Mary Ann, thanks for your message. For the moment THE BONE RITUAL is published by Little, Brown Books in the U.K., but I am told it can be purchased on Kindle in the U.S. too. Failing that, I can recommend purchasing a paperback copy using thebookdepository.com which offer free international shipping.

Hi, Julian. My local library consortium has The Fan Tan Players, but only one copy, in Polish. They don't have any of your other books. I want to read one of your works, so I'll need to buy it. Which one? Should I begin with The Fan Tan Players? Should I start with something else?

Thanks for your message and please accept my apologies for the late reply.
I would start with THE HOUSE OF TREMBLING LEAVES. It is a story about loyalty and female friendship, set around WW2, with a memorable cast of characters.

Hi Julian, I do not see your books in the Seattle Public Library? I would like to read them and usually that is where I get my books from! Our students do need to read books from other countries so I try to find out about them. I do like Ghosh's books and still have to read the 3rd one in the Ibis trilogy--Flood of Fire. Thanks for liking my review--although I didn't write anything! jw

Thanks for your recommendation of The Rice Mother - sounds just my kind of book and I will order it for when I have finished my current novel "A Little Life" which is fantastic - the characters so vivid. I also have your "House of the Trembling Leaves" on my reading plan. Sounds just the thing for me? Thanks again for recommending and all best for your own writing.

Julian Lees Hi Valerie, Thanks for the lovely message. I'm sure you will enjoy The Rice Mother - the characters are interesting and I liked the fact it was set in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. I will check out A Little Life.

What are you currently working on?

Julian Lees I have just completed the first draft of LEFT TO BURN, the second book in a series set in Jakarta, Indonesia. The first book, THE BONE RITUAL, was launched by Constable / Little, Brown on October 6.
