Alexandr Iscenco I would say that one's origins and place & purpose in the world are mysteries worth becoming a plot for a book. I am still searching for answers to the questions "Who am I?" and "What am I here for?". When I find them, perhaps I will write yet another book. :-)
Alexandr Iscenco Besides indulging myself with science fiction, specifically books from the expanded Star Wars Universe, I have taken the challenge to massage my brain with some mathematics. Thus, I have added "A Brief History of Mathematical Thought" by Luke Heaton into my current reading list.
Alexandr Iscenco On a moonless night, in a dark, dark forest, among the scorched trees a teenager girl suddenly met Freddy Krueger.
And at that terrifying moment her worst nightmare came true: she realized that... her smartphone battery is dead, and she cannot make a selfie and share it on Instagrammm... Mua-ha-ha-ha...
Alexandr Iscenco The fictional world that I dream of travelling to and exploring is the one of Star Wars Universe. I admire the vastness and biodiversity of this world expanded over thousands of books based on the original Star Wars saga. Being there, I would love to research the variations of life on different planets, meet aliens with diverse cultures and mindset, and explore the engineering miracles of that world's technologies. And then, while doing this, I would add my own adventure story to the ever expanding Star Wars Universe. Finally, when I come back to the real world, I would probably describe this story in a book and connect it to my own fictional universe of "The Monster".
Alexandr Iscenco Is suppose, this will be the couple of the Beauty and the Beast, or Belle and the Prince. I find this a very symbolic and appealing couple. I even used it as a symbol of the Nature and the Human in my latest novel "The Monster: Blade of Darkness" with the optimistic message that the "Beast" will finally transform into the true "Prince" and then connect with the "Beauty", protect her, and live harmoniously with her.
Alexandr Iscenco My inspiration comes from observations of the surrounding world, the natural environment, and how people interact with it. Then I switch on my imagination and visualize how all of them could evolve in the future.
This inspiration is fueled by the desire to express my ideas on how people's attitude towards the nature should be in order for all of us to live in a sustainable world. And at the same time I enjoy sharing knowledge and lessons learnt by me with the rest of the world.
Alexandr Iscenco Nowadays I am writing the novel "Simply Love", which represents the prequel to "The Monster: Blade of Darkness". It describes the development of relations and reflects on the meaning of love in the soon-to-be-future world full of technological advances, but experiencing the threatening scarcity of natural resources and clean environment. In "Simply Love" you will meet two couples, who will play important roles in the second part of "The Monster" trilogy: "Armageddon's Blade".
"Simply Love" is expected to be released next year.
Alexandr Iscenco People love giving advices. :-)
However, here, before rushing into "Jedi-Master-wisdom-sharing" mood, I would like to hear the ideas of you as an aspiring writer: why would you like to write / why do you write, what topic is your centerpoint one, what thoughts you wish to offer the world, etc. Then I will be able to offer a piece of advice most suitable for you.
Besides, I am also seeking advice from others, as I can also be considered an "aspiring writer". So, what advice would you give to me?
Alexandr Iscenco Hmm... The best thing?
I would say seeing how the universe that you have created in your mind takes shape on paper. And then observing how other people take your book and enter this universe that you invited them into. And enjoy the journey through it. And experience the feelings that the protagonists feel. And learn from this experience, thus becoming better persons...
And who knows, maybe they will be the ones to bring the universe from the pages of your book to the reality...
Alexandr Iscenco The idea to write "The Monster: Blade of Darkness" came to me about 17 years ago. Then I wanted to express my thoughts and obinion about the current state of Man and Nature interrelations and where they are likely to lead to. Such thoughts were too bold and direct to be displayed in one book at once. So, I decided to present also the logic behind them and explain it throughout 3 consecutive books. Thus, "The Monster" trilogy was born.
