Mary Mack Yes it is. Unfortunately, I think a few rewrites are in order.
Mary Mack That's a very good question and, for me, many times it's based on memories or true-life experiences I have had or read about. But one thing I know to be true, the best ideas come to you when you least expect it!
Mary Mack I'm currently working on a novel (GROOMED) about a thirteen-year-old girl, named Ellia, who has just been discovered missing from her home when the story unfolds.

As her hard-working, loving and determined blue collar father, Vince, soon discovers (as he searches the neighborhood for her on his Harley) she has most likely been abducted as suggested by her abandoned bicycle he finds in a park located just blocks away from their home.

Situated in the sleepy little town of Watkins Glen, NY, it tells the frightening story about how an online pedophile successfully groomed one young child into his insidious trap.

I feel that it's a story that needs to be told because "every 40 seconds in the United States, a child becomes missing or is abducted." We need to do a better job educating our children of the dangers that lurk, every day, on popular online sites and chat rooms. I hope that this novel will be a start.

Groomed, should be completed and released in the fall. Please watch for it!
Mary Mack Try to write every day, even if it's just a few lines, and read, read, read! You can't write if you don't read.
Mary Mack I get to use my imagination and before you know it, I've developed new characters that I care deeply about. I even dream about them from time to time, doing this or that. It's a hoot!
Mary Mack My most recent book, Morty, was based on a childhood memory of a friend that I loved very much. He moved away from town when we were both only nine, but I continued to think about him for years to come.

Although we didn't have the word "gay" back in the early 60's, we all knew that he was "different". I, for one, was left feeling very hurt about how unfairly some of the other neighborhood kids (mainly the boys) treated him. Simply put, they were cruel. That stuck with me throughout my lifetime and eventually shaped who I became.

Morty is the fictional story about a similar teen whom, like my dear old friend, I hope you'll love as much as I do!
