Ann Evans Hello Manasi, it all depends on how many hours you can put in per day. And sometimes the story comes fairly easily, at other times the writer can really struggle to get the story right. Then there is always re-writes to do as well. I suppose on average it could take about 6 months - but if an editor is waiting for it and there's a deadline, then the author will usually try and work harder and faster! Some of my books have taken a lot longer than 6 months from the initial idea to finally getting it published - years on some occasions.
Thank you for your question.
Best wishes

Ann Evans Hello Manasi, Did you mean books I've written or other people's that I've read. For adult reading that I love, are books by Barbara Erskine. Amongst my own books, there's the series The Beast, The Reawakening and Rampage which are for readers aged from 9 to adult). And my Little Tyke Murder Mystery Series (for children) Fishing for Clues, Stealing the Show, Pointing the Finger & Pushing his Luck. Thank you for asking.
Best wishes

Ann Evans The mystery of why burglars went to so much trouble in breaking into my shed, but then didn't take anything. Possibly because there was nothing worth taking! But what if, I'd discovered they had actually left me something...
Thank you for the question, you've just got my brain ticking away with a story idea!
Ann Evans I'm going for a couple from one of my own stories, although the author is S.Carey (say it fast - scarey). The book is one of Penguin Australia's Eerie Series for kids - they are little pocket sized books. In my book, The Trunk, my main character Charlie, calls the new couple next door, the Stick People - Shiny Head and Stick Woman. They are harbouring a very weird secret, but that's all I'm telling you! You'll have to read the book to find out what's in the trunk. Thanks for the question.
Ann Evans Have lots of writing projects on the go at any one time. They'll be at different stages, so if the creative juices dry up, you can get on with some editing or some research.
Ann Evans The best thing about being a writer is the variety of things you get to do. Particularly with non fiction. But also I enjoy research, and I find that whatever you do - even pretty boring things, you can use them in some way in your writing.
Ann Evans My advice for aspiring writers is just to keep persevering, learn as much as you can about the craft of writing, and don't be too disheartened by rejection. Just keep trying.
Ann Evans I'm working on a historical romance book at the moment, and a children book, plus some articles.
Ann Evans I love writing. I've always got various things on the go, so I never get bored or suffer from writer's block. Often I'm working to deadlines too, so that keeps me motivated.
Ann Evans I got the idea for Celeste when I was writing a non-fiction article for a magazine about an ancient church in my home city. I started thinking about people who would have used the church in Medieval times... and a story started to evolve.
