Samuel Leighton-Dore Just make work! It doesn't have to be great work! Your work doesn't have to represent everything you are and hope to be (not at first, at least)! I think it's great to back yourself and avoid the discouragement of certain gatekeepers when you're starting out.

I published my first book as an e-book on Amazon only, then self-published my second book and now have a publisher/distributor for my third. It's a long process, but you'll always learn from what you produced by yourself.
Samuel Leighton-Dore I'm working on a few pitches for other books I'd like to write/produce (there isn't a whole lot of actual writing in my books, so I never know how to refer to the process). One of them is, strangely enough, a cook book looking at the great recipes people take with them from terrible relationships - it's an idea I've had for years, so I'm just trying to work out how to best present it.

Then there's a children's book I'm really excited about, plus a book of tattoo designs for highly sensitive people. Nothing locked in yet, but a few things on the go!
Samuel Leighton-Dore I actually got it from an old episode of 'Will & Grace' where Karen jokingly refers to Jack as a 'big strong man'. I guess it resonated, because it manages to poke a little fun at the idea of traditional masculinity, without being too aggressive or condescending.
