I started blogging about my life with Parkinson's and how funny it was, and after a year or so, my editor said, "You have a message here that people are going to want to hear. This needs to be a book." And so it began.

It's how I see the world. In words. Hubs says if our house was ever on fire, the second thing I'd do is call the fire department. The first thing I'd do grab a tablet and start writing about it. Inspiration comes from just living my life and paying attention to interesting things around me.

We just released "Shake, Rattle & Roll With It; Living and Laughing with Parkinson's," so now I'm focused on getting the word out about that. I have two other books in the works, but right now, it's all about getting Shake, Rattle & Roll With It out into the marketplace and into the hands of readers.

Don't give up. Ever. Just keep writing. If you have a message, the time will come to share it with the world. And when time comes, doors will open. Until then, keep writing.

Having the ability to put experiences and emotions into words that people want to read, that they can relate to, that make their lives a little bit better in some way.

I allow myself to write junk, which I can later toss or rework until it's good. The most important thing to me is to keep writing through it. If I wait until the block passes, it may never happen. I get my writing inspiration from the writing process itself.
