Ian King There are a lot of them but the first one that comes to mind would be the NZ author, Maurice Gee. One of the first chapter books I ever purchased was 'The Half Men of 'O',' and the fantasy of the story... a young person, pitted against the odd's, rocked my boat.
Absolutely, C.S. Lewis is up there and J.R.R. Tolkien. I also really like the American writer, Bryan Davis (Dragons in our Midst and Oracles of Fire series) and another, more recent addition to this list would be George R.R. Martin. Now, he is definitely not every ones cup of tea, but his 'Game of Thrones' books, have freed me up to me more honest and realistic with my own recent writings.
Ian King Sounds exciting! I asked you a question on here about 3 weeks ago, did you see it? It's about the possibility of me being able to add your titles I've narrated for you, and selling as a boxed set.
Please let me know if you have and what are your thoughts?
Cheers
Ian.
Ian King lol! That's funny . . . I'm keen to read some of her other work too, we really need to prepare for what's coming. Unfortunately history tends to repeat itself and we need to know Gods voice today (and listen to Him) more than ever.
I say this because of something Willam (her Brother) had been preaching, long before the German occupation (10 years earlier actually). How a cancer was coming upon the land like no other had ever been before.
He was warning the people (of the pending holocaust really) and many simply laughed. Hmm . . ISIS comes to mind right now?
Ian King 'Origins Halloween', is my latest book.
Now this began as a challenge put out by fellow wattpad author Rita Kovach here: http://www.wattpad.com/user/rskovach
I have never been a thriller, horror writer and am not really a fan of some of that stuff anyway but; she put out a challenge and I thought - 'Yea, why not! I'll give it a crack!' (Literally that was my first thought!)
So began the story, based on actual Halloween practices. I'm sure very few people actually knew about the origins of Halloween, so I wrote the story to show people, just 'what' they actually celebrate on October 31st.
Why not click on it now and have a wee read of the spoiler?
Ian King Dreams, events, even little snippets of words I might hear, or things I might have seen. I'll tell you what, sometimes I get these random thoughts out of the blue, and already start to create it into some amazing story in my head. The darn trick though is to get a piece of paper or notebook and write it down. Sometimes if I haven't, I find it slips away and that makes me very sad. :(

Ian King Don't try to get things perfect straight away; try to FINISH something first otherwise you will never finish anything!
Once it's finished, then the fun begins as you find you haven't really finished at all!
This is where you can absolutely go to town and get thing perfect.

Ian King Well, there is a huge difference between when you are 'Creating' a story and 'Editing' a story. In fact both practices use different parts of the brain!
If I come up against a brick wall while creating and am not sure where to go, then I usually switch my brain into 'Edit mode,' and go back and tidy things up, change things around etc.
I find that that is all I need and then I can mentally carry on creating afterwards. Works for me!
Oh, by the way a wee bit of advice . . . NEVER edit as you create, that in itself could very-well be the reason you are getting 'Writers Block!'
