Lou Stock I am always open to recommendations, but I am on a mystery kick at the moment, so possibly more Mary Burton, Kelley Armstrong, and Karin Slaughter. With a new Mercedes Thompson novel every March, I can say for certain that will be on the list
Lou Stock It was too dark and too quiet. Until the scratching on the walls began.
Lou Stock I was driving to Colorado with my sister, her husband and a friend, we passed through a small Texas town and on the edges was an abandoned train track, overgrown with grass as it traveled toward the horizon... The story has the tracks in it, but it turned out to be bigger than the original idea. You can't always control the characters! ;)
Lou Stock I think inspiration is everywhere. I was inspired to write Parallel because I was floating in the pool on a windy afternoon and the wind carried the voice of the commentator at the local district high school football game. All it takes is a "what if..." and the possibilities are endless.
Lou Stock I have a couple of projects on the go at the moment. I've just finished writing the third Babylon MC book with the lovely Victoria L. James. I've finished a standalone novel and I'm working on the second draft, and I'm also editing book 3 of the Mortisalian Saga. Busy Busy!
Lou Stock The one thing I have learned along the way is to finish writing before you even attempt to read it back. The beautiful thing about writing is this is your world, you're always going to have an idea about where you're going, but the deeper you get into the story, the more your characters grow. By the end you know them very well, they're developed in your head, which means they can guide you when you go back to the beginning for the second draft.
Lou Stock I love everything about writing, but the best part is escaping. To live lives you may never live otherwise. Visit places that may just be impossible to get to. To have attributes no other human will ever have. You can be anything, do anything, and go anywhere. You can even make up your own worlds and dimensions. ;)
Lou Stock So sorry I missed these...

This is going to sound ridiculous, but when I was in college our instructor gave us a task: Think of the most mundane thing in the world and make it sound exciting when you write the process of it.

At the time I wasn't writing much, just tinkering. So it was a labor of love. When I did start writing more solidly again, it became an important tool. It brings things back into perspective and makes you think more about your environment and how you interact with it.

If that should happen to fail... I pick a couple of images and connect them with a short story.

Lou Stock This is a tough one because there are so many amazing book worlds out there. I think I would probably head to the Tri-Cities in Mercedes Thompson's Book universe, I would become a werewolf and join the pack. ;)
