I lie to myself and say that I'll write better stuff later. The point is that I keep writing David Bailey (photographer extraordinaire) once said that "To be a great photographer all you have to do is to take loads of photo's and throw all of the rubbish ones away!"
Writing is very much like that but different.
Keep writing and correcting. If you don't write but keep it all in your head for 'the moment' then you ain't a writer because you ain't writing.

Write and then edit. If you don't write anything then you have nothing to build upon. J K Didn't write a best seller from the start she wrote something and then corrected it. Then wrote more stuff and corrected that, the hated it and rewrote it and the carried on writing. The point is that no one writes a best seller with the first word. Writing is a process of corrections and fun. If you are not enjoying the 10th rewrite then get a paid job. Oh yes and this, getting any financial reward from the joy of writing and bringing others joy is "A slow Burn!" That'll be my quote of the century (D J Cattrell)

The question is really can you tell me how to get inspired to write and actually, if you are reading this then you are already inspired to write. I wanted to write because I wanted to shout out I think. I wanted to say I am more than this little boy that I am when I was a powerless little boy. I wanted to give something to the world that would make it a nicer place for children to grow up in and I wanted to show that literacy and being bad at writing does not mean you can't tell great stories or make up great stories.

My daughter asked me to write a story for her and after the 6 page one that I wrote for her elder daughter I felt obliged. "Ok
" I said "What would you like it to be about?" She said with that evil glint of a challenge in her eye that can only come from a 5 year old "A Bucket and it has to have a hole in it!" I said "I think you'll find 'Dear Liza' that has been done!" So I set about writing her a short funny story but with my history in psychiatry, teaching, theatre and writing plays I got a bit carried away!
