I'm glad you enjoyed it! The plan is for 3 books in this series, and then more series set in this same world.

My favorite thing about being an author so far is hearing the reaction people have after reading the end of Riddle of Regicide. Finishing it was also a pretty fantastic feeling since two years of work went into it!

This question seems to imply that inspiration for a book would come from just one source. That's madness! Inspiration for Riddle of Regicide came from so many different things that it would be impossible to list them all. However, if I had to come up with a list, I'd say the mystery portions were inspired by Harlan Coben novels, while the fantasy world was influenced by classic RPG computer games.

The best advice I can give is to find a group of people who want to write books at the same time you're writing your novel. Then each week get together and share your chapters will each other. My writing group showing interest in my story and letting me read their awesome chapters was the only way I was able to stay motivated enough to finish my novel.
