E.M. Hodge Writer's block seems to be more of an over focus on a project...time to take a break. I go for a run, draw, and divert. Reading other things and watching t.v. helps as well. Most of all, since I write different sorts of thing, I just turn to something different.
E.M. Hodge The best thing about being a writer: world building -- getting lost in the ideas in your mind and creating a new plane of existence, complete with characters that seem to have a life and ideas that hopefully resonate with readers. It's like being able to be a kid in make believe. Wonderfully fun.
E.M. Hodge Write about what you know and feel strongly about. When you put the words to paper, read the sentences aloud. E.M. Hodge I'm juggling a few projects: 1. a romance novel (lesbian fiction Regency style) ; 2. another volume of poems; 3. a work of fiction (general fiction)
E.M. Hodge Ideas pop into my head. I wake up with an idea, typically. That probably explains the wide range of topics for all of my writing, poetry included.
E.M. Hodge The inspiration for the poems: wow, rather a complicated question. Most of my life has been filled with loss and disconnection. So loneliness seemed to be my fate, as it were. Accepting that, I developed friendships and suddenly, unexpectedly found connection with another person. So, I suppose the short answer is loneliness, self-reflection, and discovery of self and connection to another person who is the right person.
