James Brown When I'm experiencing writer's block I find that the best thing I can do is take a brief respite from the work. I need to take a break and, while it can be hard to do, concentrate on anything I can think of that has nothing to do with what I'm writing, If I'm blocked and I force myself to keep writing, I won't produce what I'm trying to and, most importantly, I won't enjoy what I'm doing. I know I need a break when writing seems like a chore instead of the joy it really is..
James Brown I was born and raised in a family touched by alcoholism and am myself a recovering alcoholic. I recently retired from a 22 year career as a mental health therapist specializing in addictions counseling. I still see a few clients as a private therapist. I have seen addiction, especially alcoholism, from every side and know the impact it has, both on its victim and on those close to him or her, especially family members. When I wrote J.R.'s Story I was aware that there are countless people who could relate to and benefit from reading it. It is my hope that, as word about the book begins to spread, that will be the case.
