I truly have no idea where, as a whole, it came from. Pieces, like them controlling fire and ice, came from my little brother and I playing in the yard. We were superheroes and could do anything. Everything else, the characters informed me of as we went along ;-)

I have unlimited imagination but sometimes it's hard to get it out. I have an app I use that gives me first line prompts and I play from there to get the juices flowing.

Aspiring writers are people who are planning on writing something. My advice is to sit your *ss in the chair, on the sofa, on a park bench, in a coffee shop or on your bed, wherever works best for you, and write. You can't publish what you haven't written.

One of the best things I learned this year was sprinting. The fabulous VS Nelson taught us turn on the computer and look at where you left off. Then go do something else and think about where you want that scene to go. When you're done...doing dishes...sit down and type out the scene, no stopping and fixing. When you're done with that scene, get up and go do something else. All of this keeps you from staring at a blank screen or getting distracted when you're stuck and jumping social media. It's been fabulous.
