I'm so happy you've asked because the question of my own life mystery has actually led me to writing my next novel, We Shall Not Shatter, which releases from Amsterdam Publishers on May 15th 2022. On my paternal side of the family, my grandfather, at the age of 7, immigrated with his parents from Brzeziny, Poland to America. Although he was hearing, a few of his siblings were deaf. All but one (the oldest) were young enough to dodge the more closer health inspections at Ellis Island. However, the oldest, a teen girl, was turned away and was sent back to Poland, never to be heard from or about again. She was likely in her young 40s when the Nazis invaded Poland and being Jewish and deaf, she likely perished in the holocaust slaughter. My novel, of course, is a fictionalized tale inspired by my deaf great aunt, as well as a love-letter to a once thriving Brzeziny. I hope it encourages many to love and respect one another.

Kandi, thanks much for asking this great question. I do apologize for the delay in responding--I've been finishing up another novel.
Without "spoiling" Always With You the story is about 2 evils. These 2 evils mirror true life: the bad that lurks in the world (prejudice, crime, immoral acts... sadly, I don't have to name them all because you know what exists!), but what more--and this is the crux of Always With You--the evil within us that we must continuously fight to expel.
In Always With You Isabelle and Tyler fight against both society and themselves for the very basics in life: happiness, peace, family, and friends. It's not so much IF they achieve this but HOW.
I hope you'll like Isabelle and Tyler's story and that it may bless you with hope. Please let me know what you think.

I'm fascinated by the manipulative power and persuasion society and culture have over people. Its scary watching a person pushed by the tide of fleeting passions over that fine line of self-constraints to become a society people-pleaser in an attempt to gain approval, status, or in the means of survival--a home, food, and a resemblance of family and friends.
For example, in novels, this topic has been explored on the level of WW II stories, on both the victim side as well as the enemy side. I wanted to explore the vulnerability of American young adults, desperate for love, family, and making a home and "happily ever after" for themselves.

Elle, thanks for asking. This took some thinking! My most special moments as I write a story is when I reread a scene and it makes me cry... I hope if it has that much impact for me that it may also resonate with a reader.
As a debut novelist (I've had a couple of short stories published in anthologies prior to the release of Always With You) my most memorable moments--so far--are:
--having a laugh when I found it was difficult to articulate that my "story" is now a "book"
--discovering that someone in India is reading Always With You (just that someone in another country is reading my novel was a wow factor for me!)
--receiving a very lovely hand-written note from someone who greatly enjoyed Always With You.
