Thanks Lisa! The original title was Love, Chai and Confessions. And lol, I wish I could duplicate that drafting process, but that is definitely not happening again.

Thanks for your question! I wrote the first draft of TLLORA in 16 days. I was writing 10-11 hours a day and I don't think I can/want to do it that way with another book but who knows. Obviously there have been many rounds of intense revisions since that first draft.

Thanks for your question! I was inspired mostly by my daughter who came out to us when she was 16. I was inspired by her courage and the confidence she has in herself. But as an educator who often works with marginalized teens, I also know about many others whose circumstances are drastically different and who don't feel safe to confide in their families. I wrote this story in the hope that they might see themselves in Rukhsana's story and draw strength from it.

Thank you so much! I think the most rewarding part of writing this book was knowing that someone like Rukhsana or someone who is in a similar situation will draw hope from her story.

Thank you for your question. When I first immigrated to North America, I was hungry for stories about people like me and so I was very inspired by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Khaled Hosseini & Rohinton Mistry. After I began writing I was inspired by Jhumpa Lahiri, Nicola Yoon and J.K. Rowling.
