― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“What the hell are you doing with my underwear?”
He kept his response flippant. “I don’t have this color in my collection.”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole

― Miranda Liasson, This Thing Called Love
“Because she did love him, and not from afar, not with the moony dreaminess she’d used as a crutch for so many years, but with a deep, aching tenderness she felt might just kill her.”
― Miranda Liasson, This Love of Mine
“They’d used sex instead of communication in the past, and it had turned out disastrously.”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“Do you picture long nights making love by the fire and talking about everything and anything under the sun, and do you have the feeling that of anyone in the world, he just gets you? Like no other person in the world ever can?”
― Miranda Liasson, This Love of Mine
“It’s not over, Maddie. It’s still not over between us. We need to talk.”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“Well, Sara had certainly acted jealous about Colton’s date. And he had to admit that made him really…happy. He’d enjoyed sticking it to her too, and had taken a perverse pleasure in seeing her all riled up. Could it be possible she was interested in him, even after that just-friends speech?”
― Miranda Liasson, Then There Was You
“Maybe it was time to cut the strings of everyone’s expectations and free-fall for once in her life”
― Miranda Liasson, A Man of Honor
“She stared in horror at the pie table. Each of Nick’s hands had landed in a pie. His gray shirt was splattered with crust and whipped cream and berries. Even worse, his face was completely covered. The pie ladies and the other judges rushed to help, trying to right the remaining pies while keeping Nick from dripping berry juice all over the table. At one time Maddie might have done something as impulsive as push Ashby back. But now she took a step away. When she looked at Ashby, she was holding a pie. Actually, she was a second away from launching it. “Just put down the pie and walk away, and we’ll let bygones be bygones.” Maddie felt like she should be wearing a police uniform and holding a stun gun instead of contemplating arming herself with pies. Ashby tossed her a defiant look and cranked up the pie. “Let’s just talk like civilized—” Too late. Ashby tossed the pie, a direct hit to Maddie’s face. The pie splattered all over—her hair, her clothes, blinding her and covering her nose so she couldn’t breathe. This was war. Maddie scooped enough pie off her face so she could see. “Okay, I guess we’re past talking.” Something devilish came over her, that feeling of pure kicking-someone’s-butt that she hadn’t felt since she was nine and Derrick ambushed her Barbies with his GI Joes and held them for ransom money. Maddie picked up a certain pie from the table. One of Ashby’s. It hovered in Maddie’s hands like a Frisbee. Clearing both her pie eyes for good aim, she let it rip. Fluffs of whipped cream spread everywhere, in Ashby’s perfect hair and all over her designer sundress.”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“He was making up a story, and she was buying into his bullshit. That was a recipe for disaster”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“How was it that the one man who could take their company down appeared to be the only one who believed in her?”
― Miranda Liasson, Heart and Sole
“Sara shook her head. “I doubt Colton was looking at me when he had Everly to ogle.” “Oh my God, Sara. That man wants to do you, and you drove him into the arms of that horrible woman.” Sara rolled her eyes. “I didn’t drive him into anybody’s arms. I mean, it took him less than twenty-four hours to find someone else! Who does that?”
― Miranda Liasson, Then There Was You
“Sorry she’d expected him to somehow understand her without being able to tell him how much she needed him—how much she’d always needed him.”
― Miranda Liasson, Can't Miss Christmas
“We were teenagers. That’s what teenagers do. Although I am sorry about the Bite Me tattoo on my right butt cheek.”
― Miranda Liasson, This Loving Feeling
“Real love sucked in a way, didn’t it? Because it ripped your heart out without mercy and let it bleed all over the floor.”
― Miranda Liasson, This Loving Feeling
“You look hot,” he blurted. Shit. Why had he said that? Meg turned red as a strawberry, pulled her robe tighter around her neck, and tugged the belt tight. “Warm,” he rushed to say. “You know, flushed—like, from your bath.” For someone who was usually Mr. Rico Suave, he was really bumbling everything. He swept his gaze up and down her magnificent body. “I’m just sad your ass is covered.” Fuck, what was he doing? He tripped over his words to cover. “I mean, glad. Really glad. After the rip and everything.” Sweat rolled down his back. Maybe he needed to take his own temp. Because he really wasn’t acting like himself.”
― Miranda Liasson, This Love of Mine
“Dear God, she was getting turned on in the middle of a roadside emergency. This had to stop.”
― Miranda Liasson
“He’d never dreamed they could ever be together again after what had happened so long ago, but life is funny, sometimes. The painful past can heal and can even open up into a life you’d never dared to dream of.”
― Miranda Liasson, Can't Stop Loving You
“Around them, late afternoon sun glistened off waves that slapped against the sides of the deck. Seabirds dipped in and out of the deep blue water. It would have been a perfect, tranquil scene except for the pounding of hammers and the whir of a saw.”
― Miranda Liasson, This Thing Called Love
“As she glanced up and saw him, Dr. Anal here looked about as thrilled to see him as he did her.”

First Layer: Beat confectioners’ sugar, cream cheese, and 1 cup of Cool Whip with an electric mixer until well blended, and spread carefully over crust. Second Layer: Beat pudding and milk for 2 minutes with an electric mixer and spread over first layer. Third Layer: Spread Cool Whip generously over the pudding layer and garnish with remaining nuts. “That’s not true, Gran.” Meg had to stand up for herself if no one else was going to. “I love the outdoors.” Not, but there was no way she was going to sound like a wuss. “Why, remember that time your parents took you camping when you were ten? You went potty in the woods and accidentally sat on a wasps’ nest.”

― Miranda Liasson, Can't Fight This Feeling
