“four lessons we can learn from the book of Job.12 Believe with all your heart in the absolute sovereignty of God. Pray that God would give you that conviction. Believe with all your heart that everything He does is right and good. Pray that God will give you that assurance. Repent of all the times you have questioned God or found fault with Him in the way He has treated you. Pray that God would humble you to see these murmurings as sinful. Be satisfied with the holy will of God and do not murmur.”

“You have control over your responses and your mindset. Others can and will say mean and insensitive things to you at some point in your journey, bank on it. But you and only you can control your outlook. Be positive, stay focused and spend your mental and physical energies on things that improve your life.”

“I have an idea that I call the Reverse Effect. When you feel like you are down about your illness, turn it around and practice what Jesus taught and that is to love others like you love yourself. Taking that focus off of you will actually make you feel better. You know the saying, “it is better to give than to receive?” I think that applies to your mental state of mind as well. We were created with a component to care for others, but we must be proactive to activate that gift within us. When you are feeling bad or sorry for yourself, reverse that mentality with an action by doing something good for someone else.”

“the key to building good character is keeping your soul in step with the Savior. Just be conscious of living in a way that not only is right, but one that pleases the Father. Make conscious efforts to do the right thing. Live your life day by day with an “I can do this” mentality. Be sure and give yourself room for failure because you will fail. Remember when you fail, live to try again another day.”

“Mark 2:4-5, 11 (NLT) They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven....”“Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” Recently a friend of mine (who also has MS) told me a realy cool story. She had been at church and they cal ed those down front that wanted prayers to be healed. I assume she, as would I, thought that they meant “other people.” But her daughter was tugging at her sleeve and said, “Mom! You should go down there!” So, they did and a man put his arm on her shoulder and asked if she had an il ness and did she want to pray for God to heal her. “No, no I can’t” she said. But the man said “wel , I can pray for you, others can pray for you to be healed.” He reminded her that it maybe wasn’t the paralyzed man that asked for healing, it was the faith and actions of his friends, and Jesus rewarded their faith. So, if I am taking this passage way out of context, forgive me, but please take a second to think what that could mean for you to ask others to pray for your health. For some, we just can’t pray for ourselves (to some this may not make sense, but I am tel ing you, it hit right at home for me; and for my friend with the same chronic il ness.) God can do miracles today, but if He doesn’t, that’s not the lack of faith or the lack of power from the Almighty God; it’s just a greater plan we cannot see. Our minds are finite; His is not. So don’t limit God; pray earnestly for others.”

If you allow stimuli into your life that get you down and are bitter about it, then guess what happens to your mind? You guessed it, you come back a little darker and jaded in your outlook.”

“Most people aren’t trying to upset you. Most people don’t say things out of malice. You will get frustrated with people. They will make you want to yell at them…but again, most of them say things without thinking. Whatever you say in response, try to turn the situation into an opportunity for you to educate them. The sad truth is you can’t make everyone understand… but some people might surprise you. It just takes patience and a willingness to be open, honest and real with them.”

“One The number ONE means so many things in every aspect of our lives. We are born to ONE woman. We are focused on being number ONE in sports, school, politics, etc. We love to be number ONE. As a Christian, we believe that there is ONE Lord, ONE Savior and ONE church. We bond with others in our cities, states, nations and all over the world that call on the name of Jesus. We can use this number to focus our efforts to improve our lives. Instead of looking at life as half-empty and the things you can’t do, try looking at how ONE can make a difference in your life. If you are battling an il ness, acute or chronic, try doing ONE more thing today. Take ONE more step, try ONE more rep in physical therapy, smile ONE more time at those who are helping you. Sometimes even though you are sick, you can make such an impact on others by how you handle your ONE issue. Maybe you are an athlete; try doing ONE more rep at the end of the set. ONE more interval on the bike, track or trail. ONE more sprint if you are in the middle of football practice. The person who has the “just ONE more” mentality will always beat the other person and be number ONE. If you are dieting and trying to get your physical body back where you want it; try eating one LESS dessert, one LESS fast food lunch, one MORE salad, one MORE veggie and one MORE lap around the block after dinner. If you want to draw closer to God, read ONE passage a day if you are out of the habit. It doesn’t matter which one, just spend time listening to the Word of the Creator. Say ONE more prayer than just the one to bless the food. ONE more good deed to help your fel ow man. ONE more smile for your spouse, child, sibling or parent. What if we all did ONE good deed this week for a lonely neighbor or a shut in from church? 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (MSG) One more thing, friends: Pray for us. Be that ONE person who makes a difference in this world by doing ONE more thing to progress the love of God!”

“this guy had it all as a Jew and after Jesus called him to follow Him and serve Him, he had a terrible time. He says he was whipped countless times. He was given 39 lashes on 5 different occasions. Scholars write that the limit was 40 per session (Deuteronomy 25:3) because most men would die after more than 40.”

“words spoken by Rebecca Barlow Jordan: I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth, and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you say it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my heart and life in your hands. It’s up to you. If I can bring you more glory through healing, then that’s what I ask for. That’s what I desire. But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for me. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on this earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough, deep-down cleansing and strengthening—a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a “what-if” faith to a “no-matter-what” faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and give you glory. In Jesus’s name, Amen.”

If you allow stimuli into your life that get you down and are bitter about it, then guess what happens to your mind? You guessed it, you come back a little darker and jaded in your outlook. But let’s say that instead, you decide to put on Mandisa’s song “Overcomer” on your iphone as you get ready for the day. You sit and read a passage out of God’s Word and say a prayer of thanksgiving. Do you think there is any way you cannot start the day with sunshine in your soul? Don’t get me wrong, the relapse will still be there, but you will now have fed your spiritual muscles the spiritual protein they need to come back bigger and stronger for the next battle against your chronic illness. But just like building muscles, you will have to be consistent in your training. When you don’t feel like it—pray. When you don’t want to—read the Bible. And when you don’t feel like it—smile. Because the God who made the universe is on your side and you cannot fail.”

“2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NASB) And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I would rather boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distressed, with persecutions, with difficulties for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. The last part of verse 10 is where we should stop and think about ourselves. “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Let that be your battle cry! If you are a Christian, you really just want Jesus to shine through you. On the days when it’s cloudy outside and you barely have enough energy to get out of bed and grab a cup of coffee. At that moment, live out this verse. When I am weak I am strong. When your body aches so bad you want to cry—look in the mirror and say “for when I am weak, I am strong.” When you take out your medicines for the day and you can’t believe you may have to swallow that many pills for the rest of your life—hold them up to God and say “for when I am weak, I am strong.”

“this life is just a prologue or the opening credits to the Final Chapter. Why focus on what you real y can’t control? You have the choice to accept the ultimate free gift from God which is eternal life through His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. So everyday is just a page in your life, take one day; one page of life at a time. Matthew 6:34 (NLT) “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” We can buy creams and lotions, work out every day and eat right, there is real y NOTHING we can do to slow this chapter of our lives. We can definitely make it healthier and I believe more enjoyable, but we only real y have 100 years or less. Why not focus our efforts on loving God and fol owing His commandments for a better and healthier society. I urge you to focus on the eternal chapter of your life. Do all you can to help you and others live out the final chapter of life in eternal bliss. It’s what we were designed to do! Not in an attempt to earn our salvation, but as gratitude for our salvation. So work hard for the Lord, but remember, the best is yet to come: Final Chapter—Eternal Chapter.”
