“If we are not ourselves deeply sorry before the face of God - sorry for every one of God's creatures lovelessly converted into a 'meat product' in a lifeless assembly line, sorry for every inch of spoiled earth which our unparalleled powers have transformed into a landfill, sorry for how we have exported our slavery and crushing debt to far-flung continents and closed ourselves up in our wealth and luxury, sorry for all but abolishing the birth of babies who don't meet imposed criteria for 'worthy' life, sorry for every refugee sleeping by the roadside while police ensure they stay out of our cities; if we can't see our reflection in every news report of a school shooting - if we cannot love what we see, how could we delude ourselves into thinking we love One who we do not see?”
