“In this world, unity is achievable only by learning to unite in spite of differences, rather than insisting on unity without differences. For their total eradication is an impossibility. The secret of attaining peace in life is tolerance of disturbance of the peace. (p. 99)”

“If you are well-mannered towards those whose views are similar to yours, you may be said to exhibit a fairly good character. But, if you behave properly wit those holding divergent views from you or who criticize you, then you deserve to be credited with having an excellent character. (p. 99)”

“There are certain verses in the Quran which convey injunctions similar to the following: 'Kill them wherever you find them.' (2:191)
Referring to such verses, there are some who attempt to give the impression that Islam is a religion of war and violence. This is total untrue. Such verses relate in a restricted sense, to those who have unilaterally attacked the Muslims. The above verse does not convey the general command of Islam. (pp. 42-43)”

“The word 'jihad' has nowhere been used in the Qur'an to mean war in the sense of launching an offensive. It is used rather to mean 'struggle'. the action most consistently called for in the Qur'an is the exercise of patience. (p. 7-8)”
Wahiduddin Khan, The True Jihad: The Concept of Peace, Tolerance and Non Violence in Islam
“Not all Muslims become involved in acts of violence. Yet all might be held culpable. THis is because that section of Muslim--in fact, the majority--who are not personally involved, neither disown those members of their community who are engaged in violence, nor even condemn them. In such a case, according to the Islamic Shariah itself, if the involved Muslims are directly responsible, the uninvolved Muslims are also indirectly responsible. (p. 91)”
Wahiduddin Khan, The True Jihad: The Concept of Peace, Tolerance and Non Violence in Islam
“...according to the teachings of Islam, war is to be waged not against the enemy but against the aggressor. (p. 49)”

“Islam has been built on five pillars: testifying that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God; saying prayers; paying the prescribed charity (zakat); making the pilgrimage to the House of God in Makkah and fasting in the month of Ramadan.”
Wahiduddin Khan, The Qur'an
“Such are they who buy the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter. Their punishment shall not be lightened for them, nor shall they be helped.”
Wahiduddin Khan
“Once we have become clear in our minds that the after–life truly exists, we realize that the sole aim of our earthly existence should be to strive for success in the life to come, for, unlike the present ephemeral world, the Hereafter is eternal and real. What we understand by suffering and solace in this world cannot be compared with the suffering and solace of the Hereafter. Many individuals lead immoral, even criminal existences because they feel that we are free to do”

“And when they are told, ‘Believe as other people have believed,’ they say, ‘Are we to believe just as fools believe?’ Surely they are the fools, even though they do not realize it. 14 When they meet those who believe, they say, ‘We believe.’ But when they are alone with their evil leaders, they say, ‘We are really with you; we were only mocking.’ 15”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Quran

Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Quran Translation in Hindi
“Divorced women should wait for three menstrual cycles; it is unlawful for them, if they believe in God and the Last Day, to hide what God has created in their wombs. Their husbands have the right to take them back within that time, if they desire to be reconciled. The wives have rights corresponding to those which the husbands have, according to what is recognized to be fair, but men have a rank above them. God is almighty and all wise. 229 Divorce may be pronounced twice, and then a woman must be retained honourably or released with kindness. It is not lawful for you to take away anything of what you have given your wives, unless both fear that they would not be able to observe the bounds set by God. In such a case it shall be no sin for either of them if the woman opts to give something for her release. These are the bounds set by God; do not transgress them. Those who transgress the bounds of God are wrongdoers. 230 And if man finally divorces his wife, he cannot remarry her until she has married another man. Then if the next husband divorces her, there will be no blame on either of them if the former husband and wife return to one another, provided they think that they can keep within the bounds set by God. These are the bounds prescribed by God, which He makes clear to men of understanding. 231 Once you divorce women, and they have reached the end of their waiting period, then either retain them in all decency or part from them decently. Do not retain them in order to harm them or to wrong them. Whoever does this, wrongs his own soul. Do not make a mockery of God’s revelations. Remember the favours God has bestowed upon you, and the Book and the wisdom He has revealed to exhort you. Fear God and know that God is aware of everything. 232 When you divorce women and they reach the end of their waiting period, do not prevent them from marrying other men, if they have come to an honourable agreement. This is enjoined on every one of you who believes in God and the Last Day; it is more wholesome and purer for you. God knows, but you do not know.”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Quran
“We made a covenant with you, We said, ‘You shall not shed each other’s blood, nor turn your people out of their homes.”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Quran
“On the Day of Judgment, no step shall a man stir until he has answered questions on five aspects of his wordly existence: his life and how he spent it; his knowledge and what use he has made of it; his wealth, how he acquired it and how he has spent it; and his body and how he has utilized it. HADITH OF AT-TIRMIDHI ON THE AUTHORITY OF ABU HURAYRAH.”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Words of the Prophet Muhammad: Selections from the Hadith
“Following the rule of abstinence from worldly things does not mean that what is normally permitted becomes prohibited or that wealth should be allowed to go to waste. On the contrary, such abstinence means that you should place greater reliance on what God intends for you than on what you have in hand yourself. And when misfortune strikes, you should relish its continuance for the reward this will bring. HADITH OF AT-TIRMIDHI ON THE AUTHORITY OF ABU DHARR AL-GHIFARI.”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Words of the Prophet Muhammad: Selections from the Hadith

“علم کی ترقی شرک کی قاتل ہے۔ اس لیے مشرکانہ مذہب علم کی ترقی کو روکنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔ مگر توحید کا معاملہ اس سے مختلف ہے۔ علم کی ترقی توحید کو مزید ثابت اور مستحکم بناتی ہے۔”

“Man, moreover, possesses the capacity for thought. This uniquely human capacity is the greatest means of experiencing the highest form of pleasure. Thinking provides a limitless treasure house of pleasure for man. The act of thinking, which is seldom outwardly manifested, gives man the keenest sense of pleasure, which is just not realizable by any other means.”
Wahiduddin Khan, The Purpose of Life
“Abstain from luxuries, for those who live luxurious lives are no servants of God.’ HADITH OF AHMAD IBN HANBAL.”
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Words of the Prophet Muhammad: Selections from the Hadith
“271 If you give charity openly, it is good, but if you keep it secret and give to the needy in private, that is better for you, and it will atone for some of your bad deeds. God is aware of all that you do.”
