“In a hundred years our suffering and tears and laughter and happiness will all be forgotten, replaced by another generation whose existences are equally transient and meaningless, and yet deeply meaningful and significant to them and those they love.”

“If you let go of desire and regret (for what is regret but the desire to undo the past?), you will realize you have everything you need. There is no gap in your life. Once you accept that reality, you can find peace, contentment, and a happiness more profound and lasting than anything you’ve ever experienced.”
Adam Hamdy, The Other Side of Night
“said. ‘I’m sorry to trouble you, but we need to ask you some questions.’ ‘What for? What’s this about?’ Oxnard-Clarke responded haughtily. ‘Haven’t you seen the news, Your Lordship?’ the police officer asked. ‘There’s a story about a . . . well . . . a sex ring in London. Pearce stared at Oxnard-Clarke. ‘I’d like that very much. One of the women, one of the victims of the ring, is in the house,’ he said. ‘I’d like her to come with me.’ Oxnard-Clarke could hardly conceal his anger. ‘If she’d like to go, I’m sure his Lordship wouldn’t object,’ the chief superintendent said. Oxnard-Clarke closed in on Pearce. ‘None of this will make the slightest bit of difference,’ he growled. ‘I will be out within the hour. You really think McClusky and Sutton are our only allies? All this will be lost in what”

“And the men demurred and nodded, and he stood marvelling at how easily people surrendered power.”
Adam Hamdy, Aftershock
“Time was friend and foe. The years had made [] suffering fainter...but equally, the passage of time was the enemy of memory”
