“Simeon faced Miriam. He peered deep into her eyes as though he could discern somewhere in her deep consciousness thoughts unknown to even herself. She blinked. He smiled. He returned the squirming infant back into her waiting arms. His trembling fingers lingered on top of her shoulder, as a favorite uncle counseling his niece. He prophesied the child’s future by reiterating Yesha’yahu’s words: “Understand, your child is committed to the death and resurrection of many Israelites! His name and purpose will become abused by many for the sakes of their own advancement. The words which he shall speak will be corrupted by the power-seekers for self-serving purposes. Through their falseness your son will become a hated symbol for many, for his true function as savior to the world will become misconstrued and his identity used as an affiliation for things that he hates! The resultant bitterness will seem as if an actual sword was plunged into your heart! Not until the End of Times will their innumerable private thoughts be revealed concerning your son. What they preach as love, they twist to hateful, ambitious proclamations lent only to empower the speaker. At the End of Times, those who listened without discernment, will perish as if they themselves had spoken falsely against your son. There can be no neutrality.”

“but today he didn’t mind it so much for the passage of time now meant he would be the caretaker, the instructor, the force, behind the intellect and personality of a new existence on the face of the earth. An existence that could perhaps motivate the entire totality of everyone else’s existence. He”

“Prince Yosef glanced at the bright anomaly and also wondered if it would ever cease existing or if it were to be a permanent addition to the night sky. “But then, what is permanent? The stars that men gaze on, are they really there? The atmosphere of the earth, has it always been oxygen? Could it not have been another substance? The animals on the earth, were they always as they were or were there different types?” Yosef pondered. “How often have oceans risen and fallen? “The mysterious light that has been present since Miriam’s conception, does it descend from a star that is real or from a star that had perished eons ago? Do our words somehow remain, captured in the atmosphere, waiting to return to someone’s ears. The internal energy of man—his soul—when it perishes, as it must, will the man whom it embraced be forgotten? “Ideologies, how often do they change? Every generation? Every hundred years? Every thousand years? Mohse wrote the books of constant law! Ezra sealed them, making them unchangeable! But then the Greeks came. They invaded the world with different ideas. Different ways of discerning truth! Cyrus came before them with his Zoroastrianism, challenging the established Marduk! Can Yehuway’s truth reside alongside Greeks and Babylonian philosophers? No. For man is a thing inside Yehuway, and without Yehuway, what can be? Can Yehuway perish leaving us behind?” Yosef shook his head. “No! Yehuway’s essence cannot perish! Nothing exists without Yehuway! The Greeks’ intellect, how cunning is its invasion into the concrete reality of Mohse! Hellenistic thoughts have penetrated and conquered the P’rushim’ and Tz’dukim’ intellect. Immortality of the soul! No resurrection! No angels. Heaven’s reward and hell’s damnation according to one’s earthly deeds! All invasive Greek ideologies that are steadfastly adhering and corrupting the Mosaic truths. The Greeks’ intellect is an infectious intellect, founded on nothing but myth and fantasy. “It is man’s spirit that transcends itself to wait in a holding place in Yehuway’s memory. The Greeks declared a heaven and a hell. A tormenting residence and a rewarding residence. Such invasive thoughts are hideous to me. Paganism at its supreme level! The soul perishes. All thoughts become nonexistent! The body is consumed by the earth’s processes. A well versed man in the laws of Yehuway could not accept anything else! I will teach my son to be aware of false tautologies. “It is the personality of the individual that is remembered by Yehuway and it is that exact personality that is brought back to life. It will come back in a different body. In a different tone of voice. But the mannerisms will be the same. The intellect identical. “Yet, what man can return if the Mashi’ach fails in his mission to ransom man’s sins? What man may dwell alongside his past, risen ancestors if the Mashi’ach fails? What man can be if the Mashi’ach fails? What future can there be? Before Adam was created there was void! What is void? It is nothingness. It is total darkness! Total nonexistence. No thoughts. No light. No stars. No motions of the wind or of the seas.”

“Yehohshua knelt in the shallow water and began a quiet, earnest prayer. Yehuway listened to His son’s words. “Father, I am here beginning the walk to eternal life. Father, I have diligently maintained Your ways and laws in my heart. I have pursued You through the long nights and have nourished Your words in the light. Here I am, waiting for You to speak to me.” As the sun lowered behind the mountain, the shadows lengthened over Yehohshua and Yehohanan. An ethereal energy overtook Yehohshua’ body. The thickening lavender and yellow and red clouds above them suddenly spread open, revealing a patch of blue beyond the clouds’ dome. From the vacant reach Yehohshua stared at the rapid descent of the Ruach Ha Kodesh that took the shape of a dove. The fluttering white image fully covered Yehohshua. Within its opulent cove, bolts of lightning struck the ground. The intense, brief, flashes arced about Yehohshua, silhouetting his body. “You are My beloved son,” Yehuway’s voice transferred out from the multitude of lightning strikes, “with whom I am well pleased.” Yehohanan sank to his knees when he heard the words. The water flowed up to his chin. He lowered his eyes to the depths of the river, catching the sight of a few fish swimming by. Yehohshua’s garment appeared as the wings of an angel beneath the water. Yehohanan also prayed thanks to Yehuway. His long locks of hair unraveled and flowed out from behind him in a tranquil surrender to the events. From the experience, an invisible umbilical cord of purpose united the two men.”

“The night prior to Prince Yosef’s journey to the Temple, in the distant part of the city of Yerushalayim, a man by the name of Simeon, who had fully devoted his life to serving Yehuway, was fervently praying to Him in remotest privacy. His arms were stretched over his head as he lay on the stone floor and beads of sweat were pouring from his open pores. “Yehuway! Yehuway! How often I have exposed my heart to You. Let my grief for these people and for this city subside! Allow me, please, to see Your solution to the relief of this time’s distress, for surely it cannot continue too much longer without adversity on itself.” While he prayed a faint light filtered through the window and danced about his body. Yehuway heard his petition. The Creator held out His arm. A radiant glow formed from His elbow to the tips of His fingers. A surge of energy jettisoned from His body to encompass about Simeon, enriching, enhancing his intellectual capacity. The projected energy exerted itself into Simeon’s subconscious and a quiet voice adhered to his brain, influencing the oncoming images that were silently pictured inside him. Invisible energy flowed through him, illuminating a collage of thoughts, entrusting to him exact knowledge that he could not otherwise had understood. “Simeon, you will not under any circumstances die until you have personally touched the hand of Yehuway’s Mashi’ach.” At this same another surge of divine, revealing energy, touched the heart of an old woman who had forgotten the time of the night and, too tired to go home, had fallen asleep in the Court of the Women inside the Temple area. Yehuway’s private energy strengthened the old man’s legs. He stood straight. The divine energy guided Simeon to the Temple at the exact moment that Yosef approached the three southern gates of the Temple.”

“He bounced his two-year-old son on his knee. “Yehohshua. Yehohshua,” he said aloud. “A burden has been placed on you. What magnificent love you must have had for us to come to us.” The young child gingerly touched Yosef’s face, stroking his maturing beard. Yosef hugged him tighter to his chest, tears forming in his eyes. “What am I to you, son? How is it that I’ve been allowed to raise such an extraordinary personage? Son, more than being you, I love you as you are. You are my son!”

“knew it wouldn’t be long before someone rose up to incite anger against the Romans,” a Herodian party member joined alongside Kayafa. “This ‘peace’ from Tiberius couldn’t last, just as Augustus’ ‘pax’ couldn’t last.” “Zechariah’s son is not inciting riots,” Nakdimon defended him. “Wherever he goes, people listen, yes, but they do not gather swords into their homes. Rather, they go home and pray, wanting to further increase their alliance with Yehuway.” “Are you, Nakdimon, a party member of this rising cult?” Annas queried him with a menacing look. “I am a loyal member of the Sanhedrin as well as a strong Parush,” he defiantly replied. “However, I have known Zechariah over fifty years and he did not raise an inciter.” “But his son is an instigator, is he not?” “If he is an instigator, it is not the shout of a sword. Rather, it is the calm of peace.” After a brief lull, he continued, “Yehohanan only wants us to ‘repent’.” “Repent?” Kayafa repeated. “And how does he propose to atone for mankind’s sins? By washing them away? We are the ones who are appointed by God to help mankind realign themselves with vindication – not a man hollering simple triflings at a crowd of simpletons.” “What you mean to say is this: since Yehohanan has been baptizing in the river, you now have an overage of livestock that you cannot sell because many people no longer believe they have to present a sacrifice to atone for their sins. Your treasury lessens.” “It is more than that,” Kayafa returned. “Yehohanan is a kohen of the House of Abijah, prepared to be the kohen hagadol of Hebron. He has gained wide respect and renown throughout the land. I discern Yehohanan wants to create a new social order! Who is this ‘man who is coming after me’ that he wants to elevate? More, is that not the tactic of an ambitious cult? Do we not now have three bodies acting on God’s behalf, and now, perhaps a fourth?”

“have learned to extrapolate from my mind a new essence of who I really am. I have come to terms with myself, and I have discovered the meaning of my relationship with God and with other people.” “Is that knowledge transferable?” “Indeed it is. That is why I am here, to share that knowledge with you and with anyone else seeking it. Ask, and it shall be yours.” “What is it that you are talking about?” a member of the Fourth Sect asked him. Yehohshua sat down, leaned against the post near Zechariah, and focused on the man’s eyes. “I speak concerning the transference of sins from one body to another. Just as the people approach the altar, offering to Yehuway animals as an atonement, so is it for the Mashi’ach to be. Yet, unlike the requirement of a sin offering for every crime, it will be that one, permanent offering is to be made. An eternal transference of sins that will instantly correct the things now effecting humans against Yehuway and against the universe. “Since my earliest years I, like Yehohanan, my cousin, knew that I had certain specific thoughts clamoring throughout my being that moved me to another consciousness. I had to come to an acute understanding on who I was; on who I am to be, and on who I am right now. I had to discern and search myself to establish reasonably what it is that I must do to accomplish the goals that I set for myself to reach. I had to weigh where I am going and what adversaries I will face. I am prepared to face everything in order to do what I have elected to do.”

“My son, Yehohshua Mashi’ach, is the one commissioned to end all sacrifices by becoming the last, equal sacrifice for Adam’s transgression and mankind’s sins.” She lifted him high over her head. “Look, son. See all the people! They come here to acknowledge your purpose and they don’t even know you are here for them at this very moment!”

“Just because,” Yehohshua returned to the original subject, “I informed you that I had seen you eating a fig underneath the tree you believe that I am the Son of God and the King of Israel?” Nathaniel affirmed Yehohshua’s question. Yehohshua smiled, “You will see things greater than these for most truly I say to all of you: you will see heaven open up and you will see God’s angels ascending and descending to the Son of Man.” “The ‘Son of Man’?” Nathaniel repeated. “What does that term mean?” “It means that I am here to help all people achieve satisfaction with their lives by giving myself to their needs.” “As Ya‘akov did when he left Beersheba to find a wife for himself in the city of Haran,” Yochanan whispered to Kefa. “What are you saying to me?” asked Nathaniel. “At the height of that ladder stands Yehuway. He pronounced to Ya‘akov that all the land that he saw belongs to him and to his descendants. Yehuway promised Ya‘akov that his children would become as numerous as the sands of the sea and that they would become special, set aside from the rest of the world so that He could present to them something extraordinary! He said He would never leave his children until He had completely accomplished what He had spoken.” “I recall it,” Kefa barely smiled. “Later Ya‘akov dug a well on that exact spot. I drank from it.” “It was the first recorded land purchase that any Israelite had ever made,” Nathaniel remembered his religious studies. “Owning land is a good thing,” Kefa again spoke in his monotone voice. Then trying to show wisdom, he injected, “But the seas – who can purchase them?”

“The twenty-four Houses of Aharon,” the voice answered his thoughts, “had become engrossed by traditions and they failed to associate that sin developed not from mankind itself but that the original sin had developed from the archenemy, Satan. “Satan! I forfeit your existence. You must be destroyed. Yehohshua, you had pledged to Me to chain and remove Satan from the universe. Totally. Without regret. Without pause. I sanctify you for such a commission. Prove Satan a liar in order to vindicate your Creator.”

“No one knows the directions of another except the Father. No one can state whose heart is in agreement with the Father, but the Father. The actions may seem unreasonable to the outsider, but are they not directed by someone greater than those who are watching?” “Am I to be counted among the anointed?” Yehohshua turned his eyes away from his cousin’s so as not to betray the tears which were forming in his eyes. His hand quivered as it played over his lips, silencing the words that wanted to speak. Yehohanan saw his cousin’s fingers draping over his mouth. He knew the answer. He rose from his place to sit beside Yehohshua. “I know for an absolute certainty that I cannot be compared to your might or intellect or blessings. Yet, tell me, how much less am I than you?” Understanding the question, tears overwhelmed Yehohshua, and bursting out, he hugged Yehohanan tightly to his chest. “You are who you are. In the resurrection, I will personally call out your name.”
