“Maya felt her own form shifting. The whirlpool of stars came into view again, only this time above rather than below her. She readied herself for the dizzying trip back through the vortex. The pressure of the ascent was a crushing force on her body. But did she even have a body? She looked at her arm, seeing only star-filled space.
